Job summary

Ymcaokc is seeking Jr. Program staff to assist in supervising a safe, engaging childcare program at an Oklahoma site. You will plan weekly activities for 10-15 children, lead games, take attendance, and ensure safety while fostering YMCA values.

Starting pay is $11.00 per hour, with potential increases based on responsibilities; jr. counselors (16-17) start at $10.00 per hour. This role involves occasional after-hours work and participation in trainings.

Qualifications

• Must stay current in CPR/AED/O2 and First Aid, renewed annually.
• Must have an interest in and like children and exemplify YMCA philosophy.
• Must complete all required Redwoods trainings within 30 days of hire and renew annually.
• Must be 18 years of age, have high school diploma or GED.
• Jr. Program staff may be 16-17 yrs of age.
• Job consists of working with school age children and requires participation in activities with children.
• Position may require work outside the regularly scheduled program hours.
• Must attend all scheduled YMCA trainings, have current CPR certification and uphold the YMCA employee appearance guidelines.

Responsibilities

• Establish a positive relationship with the program participants.
• Plan weekly activities for a group of 10-15 children.
• Ensure the safety and wellbeing of all children.
• Know where all group members are at all times.
• Lead games and activities.
• Take daily attendance and see that each child is signed in and out by a responsible party each day.
• Actively engage children and participants in activities.
• Prepare and distribute USDA and HEPA approved snacks and/or meals to participants.
• Perform daily count of meals and snacks served.
• Report all injuries and incidences to the site coordinator.
• Attend regularly scheduled staff meeting to help plan activities and attend CATCH trainings.
• Develop positive relationships with school principal and staff.
• Display YMCA character values (Honesty, caring, respect, and responsibilities at all times.)
• Develop meaningful and sustainable relationships with members, donors and volunteers.
