Job summary

The Community House in Hinsdale, IL is seeking a Before & After School Mentor to plan and run engaging activities for the Before and After the Bell program, ensuring a safe, nurturing environment for all participants. You will supervise program counselors and collaborate with the Recreation Supervisor to craft enriching experiences that help children grow and thrive.

Qualifications

• Experience in leading and supervising educational or recreational programs for children.
• Ability to maintain a safe and nurturing environment for participants.
• Proven track record of effectively communicating with children, parents, and staff.
• Strong organizational skills to manage day-to-day program activities and staff meetings.
• Ability to identify and address safety concerns promptly and effectively.
• Experience in administering medication and completing necessary documentation accurately.

Responsibilities

• Comply with agency policies and procedures.
• Maintain a safe environment for participants.
• Lead day-to-day program activities and supervise counselors.
• Supervise participants and enforce program rules.
• Maintain open communication with Recreation Supervisor and Program Counselors.
• Appropriately communicate with participants and parents.
• Identify safety concerns to Recreation Coordinator.
• Supervise School Out Trips to off-site locations.
• Directly supervise and lead the day-to-day activities of the program.
• Responsible for dispensing medication to students and filling out the correct medical dispense form.
• Lead staff in monthly meetings.
• Provide a good working relationship with school staff.
