Job summary

Leading Edge Before & After School Programs is hiring two Lead Teachers to join our teams at Giberson Elementary and Stratton Meadows Elementary in Colorado Springs School District 2. This part-time, school-year position offers meaningful work with growth opportunities.

You'll supervise and engage with students, run enrichment activities, and support families in a safe, welcoming environment. Flexible morning and afternoon shifts align with school hours.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Experience with school-age children in education, licensed child care, recreation, camps, youth programs, or similar settings preferred.
• Must meet Colorado State Child Care Licensing qualifications for a Lead Teacher.
• Strong communication and teamwork skills.
• Dependable attendance and reliable transportation.
• Comfortable using technology and web-based systems.
• Ability to create a safe, positive and engaging environment for students.

Leading Edge Before & After School Programs is hiring two Lead Teachers to join our teams at Giberson Elementary and Stratton Meadows Elementary in Colorado Springs School District 2.

Our Lead Teachers help make before and after school a place kids genuinely want to be. You'll build relationships with students, lead games and enrichment activities, encourage creativity and confidence, and work alongside a team that cares about creating a safe, welcoming, and fun program.

This is meaningful part-time work with an organization that values its people, invests in their development, and provides opportunities to grow into future leadership roles.

Position Type: Part-Time | School-Year Position
Pay Range: $18.00-$22.00 per hour, depending on experience and qualifications
Pay Schedule: Biweekly, every other Friday

Work Schedule

Tuesday-Friday Mornings: 7:00-8:30 AM
Monday Mornings: 7:00-9:55 AM
District 2 has a 90-minute late start every Monday.

Monday-Friday Afternoons: 3:00-6:00 PM

About Weekly Hours

Our programs are staffed based on student enrollment and required child-to-staff ratios. Because enrollment and program needs can change throughout the school year, weekly hours may occasionally fluctuate.

When additional opportunities are available, team members may also have opportunities to support school-out days, special programming, training, or other Leading Edge programs.

What You'll Do

As a Lead Teacher, you'll help create a program where students feel safe, included, supported, and excited to come back each day.

You'll:

• Supervise and actively engage with school-age students
• Lead games, crafts, STEM projects, physical activities, and other enrichment experiences
• Build positive relationships with students and help create a strong sense of belonging
• Encourage teamwork, confidence, creativity, and positive behavior
• Assist students with homework and academic support as needed
• Work closely with your Site Director and fellow team members
• Communicate positively with families and school staff
• Support attendance, daily documentation, program setup, and organization
• Follow Colorado child care licensing requirements and Leading Edge policies

Our monthly enrichment curriculum gives you plenty to work with, but we also want you to bring your own personality, talents, and interests into the program.

What We're Looking For

We're looking for dependable, positive people who genuinely enjoy working with children and want to be part of a team.

• High school diploma or equivalent required
• Experience working with school-age children in education, licensed child care, recreation, camps, youth programs, or similar settings preferred

Colorado Lead Teacher Qualifications

Candidates qualifying through experience must be able to provide verification from previous employer(s) documenting:

• A minimum of 455 verified hours working with school-age children
• Dates of employment
• Position(s) held
• Age group(s) served
• Employer signature and contact information
