Job summary

Umbrella Family is seeking a Before and After Educator in Dundas to support children and families by implementing engaging programs that meet developmental needs. You will create meaningful play experiences, provide healthy snacks, supervise activities, and ensure safety in both indoor and outdoor spaces.

Responsibilities include assisting colleagues, welcoming families, and contributing to a well-organized environment.

Qualifications

• ECE Diploma and active College of ECEs membership or requirements to obtain Director’s Approval to work alone with children
• Experience in childcare settings and interaction with children requiring behavioral guidance
• Knowledge of How Does Learning Happen? and its application in programming for JK/SK and school-aged children
• Experience in program planning and implementation for JK/SK and school-aged children
• Excellent problem-solving, interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills
• Flexibility to adapt to a variety of responsibilities and schedules
• Certifications: First Aid with CPR C, Vulnerable Sector Check, up-to-date immunizations

• Support children during transitions from home to program
• Engage children with meaningful activities using a programming cart
• Provide morning snacks and ensure handwashing and safe eating
• Help children tidy up and prepare for the school day and outdoor play
• Set up and facilitate activities aligned with How Does Learning Happen?
• Supervise snack and ensure safe consumption of foods
• Provide indoor and outdoor play opportunities and support children’s interests
• Monitor children’s behavior and provide guidance as needed

Location: __Dundas CentralCentre, 73 Melville St,Dundas, ONL9H 2A2
Total Hours per Week: 27.75 with 1.5 hours programming time
Schedule: Monday-Friday 7:00am-9:00am and 2:45pm-6:00pm
Pay Rate (per Collective Agreement, includes wage grants):
\ RECE-* $28.00**per hour
\ *Non RECE- $26.35

About the Role
As a Before and After School Educator, your primary responsibility is to be present for children and their families while developing and implementing programs that meet their developmental needs and interests. You will create meaningful play experiences, provide healthy snacks, supervise outdoor and indoor activities, and ensure the safety and well-being of children in your care.

Duties vary by centre, but your role always includes supporting children, assisting colleagues, and contributing to a welcoming and well-organized environment.

Qualifications

• Early Childhood Education Diploma (ECE) and member in good standing with the College of ECEs OR educational requirements to obtain Director’s Approval for working alone with children
• Related experience in a childcare setting
• Demonstrated knowledge and working ability to effectively interact with children requiring behavioural guidance
• Demonstrated knowledge of How Does Learning Happen?
• Experience in program planning and implementation for JK/SK and school-aged children
• Excellent problem-solving, interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills
• Flexibility to adapt to a variety of responsibilities and schedules
• Passion for supporting children, families, and colleagues in a positive, team-focused environment
  Certifications:
• Standard First Aid with CPR Level C
• Satisfactory Vulnerable Sector Police Check
• Proof ofup-to-date immunizations(TB, Tetanus, MMR)

• Provide morning snacks, ensuring children wash hands and eat safely

• Supervise snack and ensure all children eat safely
• Provide indoor and outdoor play opportunities and support children’s interests
• Monitor children’s behaviour, offering guidance and support as needed
