Job summary

Greater Somerset County YMCA in Franklin, NJ seeks a part-time Before/After School Counselor to support our youth programs on-site. You will help implement activities, supervise children, and foster a positive, inclusive environment.

Responsibilities include greeting families, maintaining safety, helping with homework, and setting up spaces for activities across multiple school sites. 16+ and a HS diploma required; flexible afternoons/evenings.

Qualifications

• Must be at least 16 years old.
• Must have High School Diploma or Working Papers.
• Ability to learn and think quickly to resolve child-to-child situations.
• Good communication skills and ability to relate to diverse groups.

Responsibilities

• Assist with implementation of activities for children including Homework Time, Enrichment Activities, and Free Play.
• Assist Site Supervisor with supervision of all children on the site.
• Build positive relationships with children and families and greet them daily.
• Maintain discipline under the YMCA policy and Code of Conduct.
• Encourage participation in program activities and create a safe environment.
• Set up and clean spaces, disinfect equipment as required, and maintain orderly spaces.
• Keep Site Supervisor informed of situations related to children's behavior.
