Job summary

Annapolis Area Christian School (AACS) is hiring a part-time Before & After Care Assistant to support elementary students before and after the school day. You will help create a safe, welcoming environment and engage students with age-appropriate activities in a Christ-centered setting.

The position offers a weekday schedule with no regular evening or weekend shifts, and eligibility to participate in a 403(b) retirement plan.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Experience with children through childcare, school, camp, or similar activities preferred.
• Strong communication and teamwork abilities.

Work Locations

Positions may be available at the following campuses:

• Annapolis Lower School: 716 Bestgate Road, Annapolis, MD 21401
• Severn Lower School: 109 Burns Crossing Road, Severn, MD 21144

Applicants may indicate their preferred campus when applying.

Schedule

Monday-Friday during the school year:

• Before School Care: 7:00-8:00 a.m.
• After School Care: 3:00-6:00 p.m.

Applicants may indicate whether they are available for morning care, afternoon care, or both. Schedules and available hours depend on program needs.

What You'll Do

• Supervise students and help maintain a safe environment.
• Build positive relationships with children through encouragement, respect, and Christ-like care.
• Assist with games, crafts, homework, outdoor play, and other age-appropriate activities.
• Encourage positive behavior, teamwork, and healthy friendships.
• Help maintain attendance records and follow school safety procedures.
• Communicate professionally with parents, faculty, and staff.
• Work collaboratively with the Before & After Care Supervisor and other team members.

What We’re Looking For

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Experience working with children through childcare, babysitting, school, camp, church, or similar activities is preferred.
• A genuine enjoyment of working with elementary-aged children.
• Dependability, patience, and strong communication skills.
• Ability to actively supervise children indoors and outdoors.
• CPR/First Aid certification or willingness to obtain it.
