Job description

Create an outstanding customer experience through exceptional service. Establish and maintain a safe and clean environment that encourages our customers to return. Achieve sales and profit goals established for the department, and monitor and control all established quality assurance standards. Direct and supervise all functions, duties, and activities for the department. Support the day-to-day functions of the Beer/Wine/Spirits operations. Embrace the Customer 1st strategy and encourage associates to deliver excellent customer service. Responsibilities
  1. Promote trust and respect among associates.
  2. Communicate company, department, and job-specific information to associates.
  3. Establish performance goals for the department and empower associates to meet or exceed targets.
  4. Develop adequate scheduling to manage customer volume throughout hours of operation.
  5. Train and develop associates on performance of their job and participate in the performance appraisal process.
  6. Adhere to all local, state, and federal laws, and company guidelines.
  7. Create an environment that enables customers to feel welcome, important, and appreciated by answering questions regarding products sold within the department and throughout the store.
  8. Offer product samples, consistent with company guidelines and applicable laws, to help customers discover new items or products they inquire about.
  9. Inform customers of Beer/Wine/Spirit specials.
  10. Display a positive attitude.
  11. Develop and implement a department business plan to achieve desired results.
  12. Create and execute sales promotions in partnership with store management.
  13. Inform and educate department associates about current, upcoming, and special in-store promotions, especially promotions that affect the Beer/Wine/Spirits.
  14. Prepare and submit seasonal critiques for the sales and merchandising supervisor.
  15. Implement the period promotional plan for the department.
  16. Assist store management in preparing the store/department budget, profit and loss reviews, and take appropriate action on all financial reports.
  17. Maintain an awareness of inventory/stocking conditions; note any discrepancies in inventory.
  18. Schedule daily, weekly, and monthly price changes by updating shelf tags and promotional signs.
  19. Train department associates on inventory/stocking and Computer Assisted Ordering.
  20. Ensure proper temperatures in cases and coolers are maintained and temperature logs are maintained.
  21. Reinforce safety programs by complying with safety procedures and identify unsafe conditions and notify store management.
  22. Must be able to perform the essential functions of this position with or without reasonable accommodation.
Qualifications

Minimum

  1. Must be 21 years of age
  2. Effective communication skills
  3. Knowledge of basic math (counting, addition, and subtraction)
  4. Ability to handle stressful situations

Preferred

  1. High school education or equivalent
  2. Management experience
  3. Beer/Wine/Liquor experience
  4. Familiar with industry terms and processes
  5. Retail experience
  6. Knowledge of imported and domestic varieties, the flavor profiles and how they are made
  7. Knowledge of industry trends in specialty wines and beers as they relate to the customer
  8. Second language (speaking, reading and/or writing)
