Barkman Apiaries in Blountstown, FL is seeking a full-time, non-exempt Beekeeping Assistant to support beekeepers in daily hive tasks. You will learn bee management, assist with inspections, and follow safety procedures while staying punctual and detail-oriented.

You may be required to lift up to 50 lb, operate basic beekeeping tools, and navigate to yards with a GPS; occasional early mornings or late shifts apply as needed to move and load bees.

Qualifications

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

• -You are punctual and flexible, arriving ready for work according to the always changing schedule required by the bees.
• -You accompany one or more Beekeepers and assist with the daily tasks while learning about the bees.
• -You work at a steady, efficient pace and occasionally get stung by bees.
• -You open hives gently and carefully, always using a smoker, ensuring the Queen is safe.
• -You lift up to 50 lb. honey supers.
• -You are very detailed and take clear and concise notes regarding the work of the day.
• -You are able to effectively use a GPS to follow the planned routes.

Requirements

TOOLKIT:

• -You are a good listener, taking instructions from a Unit Manager or Beekeeper and completing the tasks assigned to you.
• -You can remember and follow standard procedures according to your instructions or training.
• -You are an attentive, safe driver and skilled equipment operator.

WORK VIBE:

• -We work hard and have fun as a team -- even on the hot, muggy days when we're lifting up to 50 lbs honey spurs
• -Occasionally late, late nights or early, early mornings as needed to move, load and unload bees.
• -We take our breaks between yards while on the road, in the trucks with AC and cold drinks. Sometimes when it rains we take the day off.
