Job summary

Creekstone Farms Premium Beef LLC in Arkansas City, KS, seeks a Value Added Manager to supervise the Value Added and Ground Beef division, directing hourly staff and production to meet make sheets, customer specs, and yield targets.

You will collaborate with Quality Assurance, Human Resources, and Maintenance to ensure product quality and process improvements, while upholding Creekstone Proud standards in a fast-paced, on-site environment.

Qualifications

• Three to five or more years of beef plant supervisory experience in a food manufacturing environment.
• Knowledge of beef cuts, yields, and production processes.
• Knowledge of or experience in case ready operations and steak cutting.
• Experience working with a diverse labor force.
• Strong leadership skills, including conflict resolution, coaching, and inspiring good work.
• Solid problem solving, project management, multitasking, and prioritization skills.
• Detail oriented, organized, reliable, and resourceful.
• Proficient with the Microsoft Office suite, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
• Clear communication skills – verbally and in written form – presenting ideas, concerns, and questions in a well thought out, positive, and professional manner.
• Able to take direction humbly and collaborate to define and pursue team goals.
• Able to work independently and within a team in a fast-paced, changing environment.
• Able to stand for 8 or more hours per day and to climb, stoop, crouch, push, pull, and grasp.
• Able to lift and move 50 pounds or more.
• Able to work in a cold, wet production environment wearing required PPE, including hard hat, safety-toe boots, safety goggles, and hair/beard net.

Responsibilities

• Provide leadership and direction to the hourly employees of the Value Added and Ground Beef division.
• Direct daily production to the make sheet, customer specifications, and efficiency and yield targets.
• Oversee further processed items, including high-end retail products and customer-specific programs.
• Partner with Quality Assurance to ensure all processing activities conform to product specifications.
• Meet customer orders, specifications, and delivery needs.
• Project and secure sufficient packaging materials to operate efficiently.
• Diligently track all department waste to identify areas of opportunity.
• Inspect and monitor all work areas for cleanliness and protect product from contamination.
• Oversee training and cross-training of assigned staff, appraise performance, and initiate corrective action, when necessary, within Company policy.
• Address employee concerns and complaints in partnership with Human Resources.
• Enforce health and safety policies and report infractions to Human Resources immediately.
• Coordinate line staffing and general production line maintenance to keep the division running.
• Maintain accurate production, yield, and labor records for the division.
• Recommend process and continuous improvement opportunities to the Operations Manager.
