Job Description

Position Summary

This position supports the work of the Y, a leading nonprofit committed to strengthening community through youth development, healthy living and social responsibility. Interacts with new and existing members to help them in achieving their health and well-being goals. Creates a welcoming environment for all members of all backgrounds and abilities.


Essential Functions


  • Talk with members about symptoms, medical history, and desired results.

  • Guide members through service offerings and help them choose the types of massages that would benefit them most.

  • Evaluate members to locate painful or tense areas of the body.

  • Design sessions around members’ specific complaints or problem areas.

  • Manipulate muscles or other soft tissues of the body.

  • Listen to members during massages and adjust technique to meet their needs.

  • Provide members with guidance on stretching, strengthening, overall relaxation, and how to improve their posture.

  • Suggest massage schedules for recurring sessions.

  • Document member’s condition and progress.

  • Maintains and cleans equipment according to the schedule or as requested by supervisor.

  • Follows YMCA policies and procedures; responds to emergency situations.

  • Attends all staff meetings.

  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications


  • Certifications: ASHI Basic Life Support (ASHI CPR Pro), LMT required.

  • High school graduate or equivalent preferred.
