Job Description
Position Summary
This position supports the work of the Y, a leading nonprofit committed to strengthening community through youth development, healthy living and social responsibility. Interacts with new and existing members to help them in achieving their health and well-being goals. Creates a welcoming environment for all members of all backgrounds and abilities.
Essential Functions
- Talk with members about symptoms, medical history, and desired results.
- Guide members through service offerings and help them choose the types of massages that would benefit them most.
- Evaluate members to locate painful or tense areas of the body.
- Design sessions around members’ specific complaints or problem areas.
- Manipulate muscles or other soft tissues of the body.
- Listen to members during massages and adjust technique to meet their needs.
- Provide members with guidance on stretching, strengthening, overall relaxation, and how to improve their posture.
- Suggest massage schedules for recurring sessions.
- Document member’s condition and progress.
- Maintains and cleans equipment according to the schedule or as requested by supervisor.
- Follows YMCA policies and procedures; responds to emergency situations.
- Attends all staff meetings.
- Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications
- Certifications: ASHI Basic Life Support (ASHI CPR Pro), LMT required.
- High school graduate or equivalent preferred.
- Ability to relate effectively to diverse groups of people from all social and economic segments of the community.
