Overview

Bed Placement Operations Logistics Coordinator role at Banner Health. This position coordinates bed placement and movement of patients throughout Banner acute care facilities. You will be assigned to a Banner facility and coordinate with internal stakeholders to secure bed assignments for patients coming from the Emergency Department, transfers from other facilities, transfers from home care, and internal movement of patients when status changes occur.

This is a Full Time Night Shift, 7a to 7:30p and will include weekends and holidays on a rotation.

Responsibilities
  • Act in conjunction with the house supervisor to manage daily throughput and support the command center for the hospital through surge management. Coordinate with internal hospital staff (staffing representatives, unit leaders, and procedural area leaders) to manage patient movement. Coordinate with external personnel responsible for transferring patients into the hospital from outside agencies to ensure timely acceptance. Maintain a list of anticipated needs and project eb and flow of the hospital to plan throughput and manage resources.
  • Respond to electronic orders for patient placement by entering bed assignments into bed placement software in a timely and accurate manner. File and archive completed and cancelled orders per hospital processes. Complete multiple steps for the placement of each patient, including electronic and verbal communications with stakeholders and updating multiple computer applications. Receive, verify, and provide ongoing follow-up on requests and referrals/orders.
  • Gather information for correct patient assignments and verify accuracy. Seek clarification when inaccuracies occur and resolve issues; escalate unresolved issues to appropriate nursing leadership. Prioritize the safe transition of patients throughout the placement process.
  • Complete and distribute any ad hoc reports necessary for patient throughput management. Collect and log data as requested. Perform other duties as assigned.
  • Coordinate with multiple stakeholders in a fast-paced environment, balancing requests for patient beds with available resources, and maintain excellent communication with impacted patient units and Banner employees and providers of patient care.
Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications

High school diploma/GED or equivalent. 0-2 years of experience in a healthcare office or hospital operations setting, or related educational background. Knowledge of medical terminology gained through college credits or healthcare experience. Strong verbal and written communication, organizational, and critical thinking skills. Ability to work under tight time constraints and meet deadlines while handling multiple projects. Proficiency with Microsoft applications, hospital EMR, and bed placement software.

Preferred Qualifications

Associate Degree preferred.
