Company Overview: International Shoppes is a duty-free and specialty retailer operating airport retail and duty-free facilities since 1951. Our locations include Washington DC's Dulles International Airport, New York's JFK International Airport, Boston's Logan International Airport, Baltimore's Thurgood Marshall Airport, Connecticut's Bradley International Airport, and Houston's George Bush Intercontinental Airport. Our corporate office and warehouse are in Valley Stream, NY.

Summary: Supervisors oversee the complete operation of designated areas, working with management and staff to drive sales and ensure excellent customer service.

Responsibilities:

  1. Manage store operations in the absence of management, demonstrating sales and customer service skills.
  2. Supervise sales associates in generating sales, maintaining store cleanliness, loss prevention, merchandising, pricing, and cash register operations (POS).
  3. Ensure compliance with U.S. Customs regulations and company policies.
  4. Handle client concerns professionally.
  5. Administer coaching, counseling, corrective actions, and documentation for associates.
  6. Model professionalism, ethical behavior, and effective decision-making.
  7. Delegate tasks and follow-up to ensure completion.
  8. Observe and provide feedback on associate performance.
  9. Motivate staff to perform at high levels.
  10. Train employees to interact professionally with clients.

Education & Experience:

  • Minimum 3 years of retail experience.
  • At least 1 year of supervisory/managerial experience.
  • At least 1 year of customer service or sales experience.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, including active listening, verbal communication, and assertiveness.
  • Bi-lingual skills (Arabic, Spanish, Chinese, French, Italian, Korean, Japanese, Russian, Portuguese, Turkish) are a plus.

Requirements:

  • Maintain a professional appearance when interacting with clients.
  • Lead by example and be team-oriented.
  • Attendance and participation in semi-annual inventory are mandatory.
  • Must pass airport security background checks.

Physical Requirements:

  • Lift up to 25 lbs.
  • Stand and/or walk for eight hours per shift.
  • Bend, kneel, and stoop as needed.
