Job summary

Blue Skies of Texas in San Antonio is seeking a Beauty Shop Operator to provide cosmetology services to residents and, when needed, in-room visits to ensure comfort and well-being. You will perform shampoos, cuts, styling, color services, and maintain a clean, safe shop while staying current with industry trends and complying with Texas Cosmetology Commission regulations.

Responsibilities

• Performs cosmetology services (shampoos, cuts, styling, color) for residents and in-room visits as needed.

• Notices changes in residents' appearance or behavior and reports promptly to supervisor.

Join us in our efforts to better our community!As a Beauty Shop Operator, you will provides cosmetology services to Beauty Shop patrons in accordance with industry standards and practices, management policies, and Texas Cosmetology Commission Regulations.What you will do in this role:Performs requested cosmetology services offered, to include: shampoos, cuts, styling, blow drying, roller sets, teasing, curling irons, perms, curling, hair color, high lights, foil and cap, pedicure, manicure, acrylic nails, gel nails, and waxing.Provides services to Freedom House residents either in the Beauty Shop or in their room, if necessary.Cleans and sanitizes equipment and keeps work area clean, safe, and orderly, meeting all guidelines as required by the Texas Cosmetology Commission.Notes changes in the appearance or behaviors of residents and promptly reports them to the Supervisor.Stays abreast of industry trends, products, styles, and services, in order to maintain professional currency and proficiency, provide residents with the latest services, and keep the Beauty Shop competitive with other salons.Ensures all chemicals are properly stored and secured; complies with all safety guidelines in the use of products and chemicals in the beauty shop environment.Qualifications:Required: High school diploma or equivalent.Previous experience in a salon, providing beauty salon services to the elderly and frail is required.Must hold a current license issued by the Texas Cosmetology Commission.In 1970, the first of our two campuses opened in San Antonio.
