Job Description

The Regency Memory Care Club has developed a Multi-Dimensional Memory Care Program that includes personal care and beauty/barber shop services. As a Beautician, you will be responsible for onsite beauty services such as hair washing, styling, sets, dyeing, cuts, shaves, and more. You will help us enrich the lives of seniors through elevating their self-image.

The Beautician reports to the Program Director. Our salon services are offered as part of our membership fees, so tips are not accepted. This is an hourly position with a set pay rate.

Responsibilities

1. Maintain a daily schedule for appointments
2. Greet members warmly and by name
3. Perform all aspects of hair care (cuts, dye, shaves, sets) professionally
4. Handle refusals appropriately and use dementia-oriented approaches to persuade members to accept services
5. Check room and water temperatures to ensure comfort and safety
6. Deal compassionately with members showing fear or confusion, aiming to reduce anxiety; confer with management for behavioral issues
7. Show members the results and compliment their appearance positively
8. Report daily services to the Office Manager at shift end
9. Control inventory of supplies and equipment to meet members’ needs
10. Maintain cleanliness and order in the beauty shop area
11. Keep salon tools and products safely stored away from members, in a locked cabinet
12. Ensure safety and security standards are maintained
13. Use dementia-based communication strategies to minimize negative behaviors
14. Perform duties with attention to detail, courtesy, cooperation, and a positive attitude
15. Interact positively with members’ families, aides, and caregivers
16. Maintain professionalism when interacting with team members, management, members, and vendors
17. Maintain confidentiality and treat all members with respect and dignity
18. Participate in all required trainings
19. Perform other duties as directed by the Activity or Program Director
