Job summary

Avenue is a modern dining concept located on the private beach of Long Branch, seeking a Cook to join the team. You will prepare and cook orders, control waste, restock, and assist in inventory while upholding sanitation and safety standards.

The role requires at least one year in a fast-paced kitchen, basic cooking knowledge, and the ability to work nights, weekends, or holidays. Alcohol awareness or food handler certification is preferred to meet local health requirements.

Qualifications

• At least one year experience in a fast-paced kitchen line.
• Culinary certification training preferred.
• Basic knowledge of cooking, following recipes, portion control, and presentation.
• Good communication when interacting with cooks, wait staff and supervisors.
• Reading/writing for recipes, scheduling, and inventory tracking.
• Math skills: percentages, quantities, and variances.
• Alcohol awareness certification or food handler permit as required by local/state rules.
• May work nights, weekends, and/or holidays.

Responsibilities

• Control food usage to minimize waste.
• Prepare and cook orders for daily operations in a timely manner.
• Advise supervisor of low inventory and assist in receiving and inventory checks.
• Restock items as needed during the shift.
• Maintain sanitation and cleanliness meeting health standards.
• Keep work area clean, organized, and stocked.
• Report unsafe or malfunctioning equipment to supervisor.
• May assist with ware washing or other kitchen duties.
• Promote teamwork and quality service across departments; may interact with guests.
