A leading government agency is seeking Beach Lifeguards responsible for ensuring beach safety and providing emergency medical care. Candidates must be able to swim various strokes, respond to emergencies, and maintain professionalism in a high-pressure environment. The role requires working in outdoor conditions and involves physical activities such as lifting and long-distance swimming. Additional certifications like EMT and CPR are preferred.
Working Location: 2651 Gulf Drive South, Bradenton Beach, Florida 34217
Work Hours: 40-hour work week including weekends and holidays, 9am - 5pm during winter, 9am - 7pm during summer (Memorial Day to Labor Day)
This position is responsible for beach safety, enforcing rules and ordinances, water rescue, and emergency medical care on County beaches. Responsibilities include responding to emergencies, rescuing beachgoers, administering first aid, and serving in a community-oriented capacity.
NOTE: FRS Retirement Class:
Working Conditions: Outdoor/marine environment, high noise, long-distance swimming, lifting up to 100 lbs. alone or 150 lbs. with assistance. Position is safety-sensitive; employment contingent on drug screening.
Includes supervising bathers, monitoring ocean/weather conditions, rescuing patrons, administering emergency medical care, maintaining logs, enforcing codes, working independently or in teams, and completing reports.
Beach Lifeguard I: Performs water rescue as a PRC Rescuer, training to become a PRC Patrol/Surf Operator.
Beach Lifeguard II: Acts as a PRC Surf Patrol Operator, responds to emergencies, operates rescue vehicles/vessels, maintains certifications, and may lead rescue operations.
Additional certifications and experience required depending on the level, including EMT, CPR, scuba, and rescue diver certifications.
Includes recognizing dangers, maintaining professionalism, performing strenuous activities, lifting heavy patients, learning water safety techniques, and operating rescue equipment and vehicles.
