Overview

As a Line Cook, you are responsible for preparing food, assisting the kitchen staff in food preparation, and setting up your assigned station in accordance with standards set by the Chef. Responsibilities

The Line Cook's typical duties include:

  • Preparing food according to food handling guidelines and cooking procedures
  • Measuring and mixing ingredients based on recipes or records to prepare and prepped food items
  • Stocking and maintaining sufficient levels of food at line stations to ensure smooth service
  • Communicating and coordinating with other cooks, wait staff, and food and beverage team members
  • Familiarizing with all kitchen equipment
  • Adjusting thermostat controls to regulate oven, grill, and other appliance temperatures
  • Testing foods being cooked by tasting, smelling, and using thermometers for proper preparation
  • Plating and portioning food to meet presentation standards, using records or specifications
  • Labeling, dating, and rotating stored food
  • Performing closing procedures, including equipment maintenance, cleaning, sanitation, and organization of the kitchen and storage areas
Qualifications
