Job summary

Silgan Containers seeks a Machine Operator to support blow molding lines in a manufacturing setting. You will promote safety, follow GDP and PPE guidelines, perform minor repairs, and document quality in WinSPC while maintaining housekeeping.

The role requires reading and communicating clearly, lifting up to 35 lbs, and willingness to work 12-hour day or night shifts, including weekends and overtime. GED is required, high school diploma preferred, with manufacturing experience.

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES

• Will promote a safe working environment.
• Understand and adhere to all Silgan Safety Policies and Procedures to prevent injury to self and co-workers.
• Ensuring machines are functioning safely in accordance with GMP and housekeeping standards.
• Understanding of bottle quality requirements and documentation of those requirements Sustain efficiency and scrap on production machines that meet company goals.
• Ability to effectively communicate machines, process, quality related issues.
• Effectively diagnosed problems and logically troubleshoot tasks.
• Effectively make minor mechanical repairs.
• Perform daily housekeeping tasks.
• Will promote a “teamwork” atmosphere by assisting where needed in housekeeping, organizing, packing, transporting corrugated, erecting corrugated, performing rework.
• Perform master cleaning tasks when necessary.
• Comply with directions from supervisors and managers.
• Assist in troubleshooting of equipment.
• Perform minor repairs to the machines during their shift.
• Complete quality inspection and record them in our WinSPC software.
• Mechanical and Process related troubleshooting on machines and equipment.
• Follow GDP, Safety and PPE Guidelines.
• Must be able to lift 35lb. bags of resin / concentrate.
• Must be able to climb ladders and stand on feet for entirety of the shift.

EDUCATION

• Required: GED Preferred: High school diploma

EXPERIENCE

• Preferred: 6 months as a machine operator.
• Experience as a blow molding operator.
• 1 year Experience in Manufacturing.
• Manufacturing experience, extrusion molding is a plus.

SKILLS

• Required: Ability to read, write and communicate orally. Good attention to detail. Good mechanical skills and use of hand tools to perform basics repairs. Ability to enter machinery safely and unhindered by physical restriction. Basic computer knowledge. Visual Inspections on product. Willingness to work 12 hours on either day or night shifts, weekends, and overtime. Ability to lift 35 Lbs. Have good communication skills with co-workers and supervisors. Ability to operate PITs (Powered Industrial Trucks) Preferred: Ability to read, write and communicate fluently in English.
