Job summary

Silgan Plastics Corporation is seeking an on-site production worker to inspect and pack bottles on assigned lines at standard rates. The role includes assisting in scrap removal, grinding, scrap handling, and packing blank or decorated bottles. Training on punches, conveyors, flamers, and carton unitizing may be provided.

Referral bonus and incentive program are offered. Strict adherence to safety policies and housekeeping is required to maintain a safe environment.

Qualifications

• May operate a punch, load conveyors or flamers, and unitize cartons.

Responsibilities

• Promote a safe working environment on the line.
• Adhere to Silgan safety policies and prevent injuries.
• Monitor ware for quality defects and inform supervisor or coordinator.
• Pack bottles at standard rate and on schedule.
• Operate a punch and load conveyors/flamers as required.
• Keep the line and area clean and mop as needed.
• Remove scrap and pull plastic as necessary.
• Make and unitize cartons and label boxes.
• Prepare unit tickets and paperwork as assigned.
• Follow supervisor instructions and perform other duties as needed.

SUMMARY DESCRIPTION:

Duties include inspecting and packing bottles at standard rate on assigned line(s) Responsible for general housekeeping. Assisting in scrap removal and grinding. Will pull plastic. May be required to operate a punch, load a conveyor or flamer and pack either blank or decorated bottles. May be required to tape and unitize cartons. Referral Bonus! Incentive Program!

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Promote a safe working environment


• Understands and adheres to all Silgan safety policies and procedures to prevent injury to self and co-workers


• Monitor ware for quality defects and promptly inform the operator and/ or the coordinator.


• Pack at standard rate.


• Operate a punch.


• Load conveyors and flamers.


• Practice housekeeping on assigned line(s) and around machine including mopping if necessary.


• Remove scrap from around the line.


• Grind and pull plastic as needed.


• Make and unitize cartons as assigned.


• Initial and date box labels.


• Make out unit tickets.


• Do any other work as assigned by the Supervisor.
