Job summary

Devereux Advanced Behavioral Health New York seeks a BCBA/School Clinician to deliver individualized therapy and coordinate treatment alongside a multidisciplinary team. The role focuses on applying behavioral strategies within students’ IEPs and collaborating with the Treatment Team.

You will conduct sessions, develop goals, and participate in Team meetings to ensure consistent, compliant program delivery across school settings in Red Hook, NY.

Qualifications

  • Master's degree in psychology, social work or related field.
  • BCBA certification preferred.
  • At least one year of experience with a developmentally disabled population.

Responsibilities

  • Develop therapeutic relationship with students on assigned caseload. Conduct therapy sessions as scheduled.
  • Develop therapy goals and methods aligned with the student’s program.
  • Attends and coordinates Treatment Team meetings to set treatment goals and methods, to ensure that all aspects of student’s program are consistent with other aspects and with state and agency regulations, policies, and procedures.
  • Develops and oversees implementation of behavior contracts or other intervention strategies in conjunction with Treatment Team. Demonstrates knowledge of principles of learning and training methods based upon positive reinforcement.
  • Works with Case Manager to assure that treatment plans are coordinated, and that student needs are met.
  • Makes referrals to the Vocational Coordinator for assessment of Prevocational, Vocational, or competitive employment placement.
  • Attends CSE meetings to discuss students' progress and goals.
  • Responsible to create, monitor, train, and oversee program elements as designated by the Principal.

Devereux Advanced Behavioral Health New York provides programs and services for children and adults with intellectual disabilities, Autism Spectrum Disorder, and dual diagnoses. Located in Red Hook, NY, this position is responsible for conducting individual and/or group therapy as required by the student’s IEP, developing therapy goals and methods that can be integrated into other aspects of the student’s program. They will attend and coordinate Treatment Team meetings to set treatment goals and methods, to ensure that all aspects of the student’s program are consistent with other aspects and with state and agency regulations, policies, and procedures. The BCBA will work with the Case Manager to assure that treatment plans are coordinated, and that student needs are met.

Qualifications

EDUCATION: Masters degree in psychology, social work or related field. BCBA certification preferred.

EXPERIENCE: At least one year of experience working with a developmentally disabled population, or graduate study in specific treatment methods applicable to this population. Prefer experience with behavior modification and experience in a coordinating or supervisory position. Strong interpersonal skills required. Must be able to get along with many diverse personalities. Must handle detailed, complex concepts and problems and make rapid decisions. Incumbent must possess writing skills adequate to convey complex issues and concepts in a concise and intelligible manner.
