Job summary

Step Up Family Services LLC is seeking a Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA) / Licensed Behavior Analyst (LBA) to provide clinical leadership for ABA services across in-home and center-based settings.

You will conduct assessments, develop and monitor BSPs, supervise BTs/RBTs, collaborate with families, and ensure ethical, regulatory compliance while driving meaningful outcomes for children and families served.

Qualifications

Location: In-Home and/or Center-Based

Position Summary

The BCBA/LBA provides clinical leadership and oversight of Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) services for children and families served by Step Up Family Services. This role is responsible for conducting assessments, developing and monitoring individualized treatment and Behavior Support Plans (BSPs), analyzing client progress, supervising and developing BTs/RBTs, and partnering with families to support meaningful and sustainable outcomes.

The BCBA/LBA is expected to exercise independent clinical decision-making while maintaining high standards of ethical practice, documentation, collaboration, and regulatory compliance.

Schedule

• Scheduling is based on assigned caseload, authorized service hours, client/family needs, and program availability
• Step Up provides services Monday through Sunday between 8:00 AM and 7:00 PM
• During the school year, in-home service needs are primarily concentrated after school and on weekends
• Position may include in-home, center-based, community-based, and virtual clinical responsibilities, as appropriate to the service and case
• Travel to assigned client locations is required for in-home and community-based services

Key Responsibilities

• Conduct comprehensive client assessments and Functional Behavior Assessments (FBAs) and use findings to identify treatment priorities and clinical recommendations.
• Develop, implement, monitor, and modify individualized treatment plans and Behavior Support Plans (BSPs) based on assessment findings, client needs, family input, and measurable clinical goals.
• Analyze client data and treatment outcomes to evaluate effectiveness, identify barriers to progress, and make data-informed clinical decisions and treatment modifications.
• Provide ongoing supervision, observation, coaching, and clinical direction to BTs/RBTs, ensuring treatment fidelity, staff competency, and appropriate implementation of treatment protocols.
• Partner with parents and caregivers through education, training, modeling, and ongoing communication to promote treatment consistency and generalization of skills across environments.
• Collaborate with families, BTs/RBTs, clinical leadership, schools, providers, and other members of the care team to support coordinated and clinically appropriate care.
• Maintain ownership of assigned caseloads, including authorized service hours, supervision requirements, scheduling, reassessments, treatment-plan updates, and required clinical documentation.
• Identify and appropriately respond to clinical, ethical, safety, or professional-boundary concerns, including consultation and escalation when necessary.
• Complete all clinical documentation, assessments, treatment plans, supervision records, and other required records accurately and within established timeframes, utilizing Step Up’s required electronic systems.
• Maintain compliance with BACB ethical requirements, New Jersey licensure requirements, payer/funding requirements, Step Up policies, and all applicable professional and regulatory standards.

Qualifications

• Master’s degree or higher in Applied Behavior Analysis, Psychology, Education, or another qualifying related field.
• Demonstrated experience providing ABA services and developing individualized behavioral treatment interventions.
• Experience conducting FBAs, developing treatment/BSPs, analyzing clinical data, and modifying interventions based on client progress.
• Experience supervising, coaching, or developing BTs/RBTs or other direct‑care clinical staff.
• Strong clinical decision-making, communication, organization, documentation, and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work effectively and independently across in-home and/or center-based environments while maintaining strong collaboration with families and the broader clinical team.
• Reliable transportation and ability to travel to assigned client homes, community settings, or Step Up centers as required.
• Must successfully meet all required background checks, fingerprinting, credentialing, training, and other employment requirements.

Credential Requirements

• Must hold and maintain an active Board-Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA) certification through the Behavior Analyst Certification Board (BACB).
• Must hold and maintain an active New Jersey Licensed Behavior Analyst (LBA) license, or meet applicable requirements for NJ licensure prior to independently providing services requiring licensure.
• Must maintain all continuing education, supervision, renewal, and other requirements necessary to keep applicable certification and licensure in good standing.
