Job description

Advanced Heart Failure Transplant Cardiologists Lakeway and Temple Texas

Baylor Scott & White Health is seeking BC/BE Advanced Heart Failure Transplant Cardiologists for our Advanced Heart Failure Transplant team in the Greater Austin and Temple Regions. Our services include remote monitoring, disease-specific approaches such as amyloidosis and sarcoidosis, as well as heart transplant/ventricular assist devices, temporary MCS, and involvement in interdisciplinary programs.

You will join a team of 9 specialists serving the advanced heart disease, replacement, and recovery program at BSWH for Central Texas and Greater Austin. Our regional team supports approximately 200 temporary mechanical circulatory support devices and 50 heart replacements annually, focusing on quality and long-term well-being for patients and caregivers.

The team supports interdisciplinary programs with a comprehensive approach including structural, surgical, and multimodality imaging specialists. The candidate will have inpatient responsibilities related to the LVAD/HTx program, including rounding, VAD/HTx clinics, ECHO for VAD/HTx, and invasive procedures such as RHC, implantable PA monitors, and endomyocardial biopsies.

Highlights of the Greater Austin Region – Lakeway Position

Responsibilities include inpatient and outpatient heart failure and transplant consultations. Additional duties may involve ACGME education of Cardiology Fellows and rotating service on the inpatient cardiac transplant service at BSWH Round Rock and BSWH Memorial Hospital in Temple, Texas.

Qualifications

  • Must be UNOS qualified for cardiac transplant care.
  • An interest in education and research is encouraged but not required.
  • Provide coverage for transplant, inpatient, and outpatient services.
  • Majority of time in Lakeway.
  • Expected call 1:4 in Round Rock (Recovery program).
  • Expected call 6 weeks/year in Temple (VAD/HTx program).
  • Dedicated HF nurses and APPs once a week, with plans for expansion.
  • Opportunities to perform cath lab procedures and read ECHO for VAD and transplant patients.

Responsibilities include inpatient and outpatient heart failure and transplant consultations, ACGME education, and rotating service at BSWH Memorial Hospital in Temple, Texas.

Qualifications

  • Must be UNOS qualified for cardiac transplant care.
  • Interest in education and research encouraged but not essential.
  • Provide coverage for transplant and general services.
  • Outreach rotations may include Waco, College Station, Round Rock, or Killeen.
  • Call 1:6 or 1:8.
