Job summary

Guidewell Education LLC's ESM Prep is seeking energetic Academic Mentors in the Bay Area to support students' college readiness and AP/test prep. Tutors work one-on-one, guiding students through SAT/ACT and AP exams while mentoring their overall high school journey.

Ideal applicants have experience tutoring humanities subjects such as AP English, AP Literature, and AP US History, and are comfortable with in-person sessions in the South Bay/Peninsula (Atherton) with some remote opportunities.

Qualifications

• Experience tutoring high-level Humanities: AP English, AP Literature, and AP US History.
• Experience tutoring ACT/SAT or willingness to complete training.
• Available for in-person tutoring 2–3 days a week in the South Bay/Peninsula area (Atherton).

Responsibilities

Job Description

ESM Prep is seeking energetic, engaging, and kind tutors in the Bay Area who can support their students holistically as mentors. The tutors in this position will assist students one‑on‑one in preparing for college by readying them for the SAT/ACT as well as AP exams and mentoring themthrough their overall high school academic journey.

We call our tutors Academic Mentors because we prioritize the holistic development of each of our students. All applicants should be passionate about working with youth and should have previous experience tutoring, teaching, and/or coaching.

Job Requirements

• Prior experience tutoring or teaching high-level Humanities subjects such as AP English, AP Literature, and AP US History.
• Prior experience teaching or tutoring ACT/SAT or willingness to go through our advanced test prep training is a big plus and would open you up to more work opportunities.
• Must be able to tutor in‑person 2 to 3 days a week, mostly in the South Bay/PeninsulaArea (Atherton).
• You must be available for in‑person tutoring in students' homes, though you will also have the opportunity to work remotely.
• Additional expertise in high school subjects such ascalculus,physics, history, English, Spanish, computer science, economics, SSAT, and/or ISEE is a plus!
• Available part‑time. Tutoring usually occurs on weekday evenings (after 3 pm) and/or on weekends. Typical work schedule is Sunday-Thursday.
• Available to tutor for a full school year or longer.
• Reliable internet access.
• Reliable transportation.
• Wage: $70-$80/hr for in‑person sessions ($60-$70/hr for remote sessions, with a +$10/hr differential for in‑person work)
• IRS‑standard mileage reimbursement for travel to students' homes.
