Job summary

AI Policy Network in Berkeley, CA seeks a Director of Donor Relations to cultivate and close major gifts from tech leaders, founders, and mission-aligned donors. You will manage a donor portfolio, plan cultivation events across the Bay Area, and coordinate with the Head of Development on multi-year opportunities.

The ideal candidate has deep Bay Area relationships in the AI safety community, a proven major gifts track record, and the ability to translate policy goals into compelling donor

Qualifications

• Proven track record closing high-value commitments.
• Existing relationships within the Bay Area AI safety or tech philanthropy communities.
• Working knowledge of nonprofit and political giving frameworks (501(c)(4)).
• Exceptional written and verbal communication, able to translate policy to donors.
• Experience with donor database and pipeline management systems.

Responsibilities

• Cultivate and solicit major gifts from Bay Area tech professionals, founders, and philanthropists.
• Manage portfolio of donors and prospects, plan tailored engagement and leadership access.
• Draft gift proposals, acknowledgments, and impact reports; coordinate with finance and operations.
