Job summary

Blue Origin LLC seeks a Battery/Cell Testing Engineer to plan, execute, and analyze Li-ion cell tests at cell, module, and pack levels. This hands-on role focuses on performance validation, safety testing, and reliability across development and production phases.

Responsibilities include developing test plans, analyzing results, and mentoring technicians, while collaborating with a cross-functional team to optimize cell chemistry and design for Blue Origin products.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in a relevant engineering field.
• Experience with Lithium-based battery technologies and their degradation mechanisms.
• Hands-on experience with cell cycling hardware (Arbin, Neware, etc.).
• Experience with lab test equipment (Power Supply, DMM, Oscilloscope, etc.).
• Experience with LabView, JIRA, MATLAB, Python, SQL, or similar tools.
• Direct hands-on experience developing and executing test plans for complex electronics systems.
• Familiarity with industry-standard electrical test equipment and procedures.

Responsibilities

• Develop, plan and execute Li-ion cell testing using cycling equipment and thermal chambers.
• Write test plans, document setup and instrumentation, analyze results, and summarize in test reports.
• Support the design and assembly of test fixtures for battery testing.
• Perform cell-level analytical techniques to study energy/power loss mechanisms.
• Participate in lab process development and best practices.
• Ensure data integrity and support data management system expansion.
• Lead test failure investigations and root cause analysis.
• Participate in Design Reviews & Requirements Traceability.
• Train technicians in operation and upkeep of test equipment and lab processes.
• Collaborate in cross-functional product development to determine ideal cell chemistry and design.
