Job summary

UL Solutions in Auburn Hills, MI, is seeking a technically skilled engineer to program and execute battery test sequences, develop MORPHEE scripts, and contribute to control logic for test flow, interlocks and shutdowns. You will enable CAN communication between test hardware, BMS, and devices under test while configuring CAN databases and diagnostics.

The role requires hands-on experience with lab equipment, data analysis of CAN traffic, and strong problem-solving and communication skills.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering or equivalent experience.
  • Experience integrating and controlling laboratory hardware.
  • Experience with MORPHEE test automation platform.
  • Familiarity with CAN communication and BMS.
  • Keysight ESD programming experience.
  • Proficiency in C++, Python, MATLAB, and/or LabVIEW.
  • Experience programming automated lab test equipment for battery systems.
  • Strong problem-solving and communication skills.

Responsibilities

  • Read and understand data sheets and test plans.
  • Support programming and execution of battery test sequences and MORPHEE scripts.
  • Support CAN-based communication between test equipment, BMS, and devices under test.
  • Configure and manage CAN databases, signal mapping, and diagnostics.
  • Analyze CAN traffic and test data to identify issues or abnormal behavior.
  • Troubleshoot software, hardware, and CAN network issues impacting tests.
  • Monitor, acquire, log, and validate electrical, thermal, and communication data.
  • Generate automated test reports, data summaries, and traceability records.
  • Document test software, CAN configurations, test procedures, and system architectures.
  • Support commissioning, validation, and continuous improvement of lab equipment.
  • Integrate lab hardware including cyclers, power supplies, loads, DAQ, environmental chambers, safety systems.
  • Collaborate with Lab Engineers and technicians to define test requirements.
