Job summary

Kenco Group is seeking a Battery Technician to assemble, install, inspect, and maintain batteries for vehicles, equipment, and power plants. You will remove and inspect cells, replace defective parts, and manage charging and testing using standard equipment.

The role requires physical stamina and safe handling of lithium-based batteries, with responsibilities across field service and service center settings. Travel of up to 50% is expected; a high school diploma is preferred.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
  • Knowledge of using, troubleshooting, maintaining and repairing electrical and battery testing equipment.
  • Knowledge of battery safety best practices and industry standards, related to testing, storage and disposal of lithium-ion and lithium primary cells and batteries.
  • Physical stamina and mobility including ability to reach, kneel and bend.
  • Ability to lift, push and pull required load (usually about 30lbs).

Responsibilities

  • Remove and disassemble cells and inspect parts to detect defects.
  • Replace defective parts, reassemble battery, and fuse lead parts with gas torch.
  • Fill cells with acid solution and determine specific gravity of solution.
  • Attach charger leads to battery posts or connector and start charger.
  • Read meters and adjust charge parameters to control time and flow of current through battery.
  • Perform discharge tests, evaluate results and make necessary repairs.
  • Wash, clean, and neutralize customers' batteries at customer location or in the service center.
  • Repair battery charging equipment.
