Job summary

Eaton’s ES AMER ESS division is seeking a Battery Systems Validation Engineering Technician II in Raleigh, NC. The role supports testing, troubleshooting, commissioning, and failure analysis for lithium-ion and lead-acid battery systems used with 3-phase UPS products.

The position involves testing across charge/discharge cycles, configuring BMS, and applying safety procedures. Salary ranges from $56,000 to $83,000 per year, based on skills and experience.

Qualifications

• Associate degree in Electrical/Electronics Engineering Technology required.
• Minimum three (3) years of experience with electrical power systems or related technical role.
• Working knowledge of UPS battery fundamentals (lead-acid and Li-ion) and BMS basics.
• Willingness to work near energized electrical hazards with PPE and safe-work procedures.

Responsibilities

• Assemble, inspect, configure, and commission UPS battery cabinets, modules, busbars, fuses, breakers, and monitoring components.
• Execute charge/discharge, runtime, functional, thermal, communications, balancing, and commissioning tests.
• Configure Battery Management Systems (BMS) and troubleshoot Modbus, CANBus, Ethernet, and RS-485 communications.
• Use electrical test equipment and data-acquisition systems to record results and prepare test reports.
• Troubleshoot battery modules, BMS components, controls, sensors, and UPS integration using schematics and wiring diagrams.
• Perform authorized work on energized battery systems using PPE and safe-work practices.
