Job summary

ENGIE North America is seeking a Senior Battery Storage Technician for the Magnolia BESS site in League City, TX. You will create a plan of the day, issue and approve permits to work, develop JSPs, and conduct LOTO and risk assessments during maintenance cycles.

Reporting to the Area Technician Lead, you will supervise LOTO activities, complete QEW assessments, maintain MV and SCADA expertise, and mentor junior technicians while complying with ENGIE safety standards.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma/GED or an electrical program diploma.
  • Minimum five years of experience on BESS, solar, wind, or related sites; on-site maintenance experience.
  • Willingness to travel domestically and work in the field.
  • Field position requiring daily travel to client sites; valid US driver’s license.

Responsibilities

  • Interpret ENGIE documentation and LOTO procedures, and manage work orders and observations.
  • Create, manage, and follow up on maintenance work orders to ensure timely completion.
  • Conduct site orientations for OEMs, ISPs, vendors, and visitors with safety and quality oversight.
  • Perform and supervise LOTO activities and escort contractors as required.
  • Demonstrate QEW competency including AC/DC voltage testing and absence-of-voltage verification.
  • Maintain MV system and SCADA knowledge and mentor junior technicians.

Job description

As the Senior Battery Storage Technician , for our Magnolia BESS site in League City, TX. Your daily responsibilities include but not limited to, creating a plan of the day, filling out, issue, and approve permits to work, create job safety plans (JSPs). You will perform lock-out tag-out (LOTO) procedures (be able to create new lock-out tag-out procedures when one is not in existence). You must conduct last minute risk assessments, execute preventative maintenance tasks on site specific equipment during monthly – semi-annual – annual maintenance cycles. You will be able to demonstrate reactive maintenance skills, such as advanced troubleshooting and root-cause-analysis, to reestablish faulted units.

Reporting to the Area Technician Lead, your primary duties include:

  • Interpret and comply with ENGIE’s operational documentation, including (LOTO) procedures, work instructions, routine maintenance checklists, work orders, and observations managed through Maximo
  • Create, manage, and follow up on maintenance work orders and observations to ensure timely completion of site activities.
  • Conduct site orientations for OEM representatives, independent service providers (ISPs), vendors, and visitors, while providing oversight to ensure compliance with ENGIE quality and safety standards
  • Perform and supervise LOTO activities, including escorting contractors and visitors to operating units and providing general worksite supervision as required
  • Successfully complete and demonstrate proficiency during the Qualified Electrical Worker (QEW) Competency Skills Assessment, including AC/DC voltage testing, hot-cold-hot testing, grounding procedures, and absence-of-voltage verification
  • Maintain advanced expertise in solar plant equipment and control systems, including certified inverter OEM platforms (Power Supervisor, Monitor Fusion, LC/BSC/PCS/CMU interfaces)
  • Possess advanced knowledge and certifications in Medium Voltage (MV) systems, substation maintenance or transformer switching, infrared (IR) thermography, and SCADA monitoring, while mentoring junior technicians and conducting QEW competency evaluations
What You’ll Bring
  • Minimum High School Diploma/GED or a diploma in an electrical program where you have learned AC/DC voltage, general electrical theory, basic understanding of one-line and three-line schematics, operation & maintenance of electrical equipment such as AC/DC breakers, AC/DC disconnects, MV transformers, NO/NC contactors, and relays.
  • Minimum five (5) years of experience in any/or BESS sites, solar generation sites, wind generation sites, thermal power plants, manufacturing or mining operations, or controls & instrumentation maintenance
  • Capacity to be on call as deemed necessary by supervisor
  • This is a field position requiring daily travel to client site(s)
  • Must be available to travel domestically to support other support operations at other ENGIE Renewable Generation (Solar, Wind and BESS sites)
  • Must possess a valid U.S. driver’s license/clean driving record to drive company vehicle on and around the plant
  • Must be willing and able to comply with all ENGIE ethics and safety policies
  • The position consists of 30% work indoors and 70% work outdoors; outdoor work may expose the employee to weather conditions
Compensation

Hourly Range: $33.41 – $44.51 USD hourly

This represents the average expected pay range for a qualified candidate.

ENGIE complies with all federal, state, and local minimum wage laws. Actual salary offered may vary depending on geography, experience, education, internal pay alignment, or other bona fide factors.

In addition to base pay, this position is eligible for a competitive bonus / incentive plan and emergency or on-call pay.
