Job summary

General Motors is seeking a Process Engineer for Electrode & Assembly at its Battery Cell Development Center. You will support development, troubleshooting, and optimization of processes from electrode to cell assembly, including roll press, slitting, drying, stacking, welding, and electrolyte filling.

You will design and execute trials, document outcomes, and drive improvements using DOE, capability studies and PFMEA, while collaborating with technicians, quality, and suppliers.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in a technical discipline as listed.
• 3+ years in process/manufacturing engineering or battery manufacturing.
• Experience planning trials, analyzing process data, and documenting results.
• Knowledge of root-cause analysis, process capability, SPC, DOE.
• Ability to read engineering drawings and schematics.
• Strong communication and hands-on collaboration in development environments.

Responsibilities

• Support and lead development, troubleshooting, and improvement of processes from roll press to electrolyte fill.
• Execute trials, experiments, and development builds with documentation of conditions and results.
• Develop process settings, operating windows, standard work, inspection methods, and requirements across steps.
• Use data, DOE, capability studies, and SPC to investigate defects and verify corrective actions.
• Support PFMEA, control plans, and process validation through installation and commissioning.
• Coordinate activities with technicians, controls, quality, materials, product engineering, and suppliers; clearly communicate results and risks.
