Job summary

General Motors LLC is seeking a Process Engineer - Electrode & Assembly to support senior engineers at the Battery Cell Development Center. You will help develop, improve, and troubleshoot manufacturing processes from electrode through cell assembly, including roll press, slitting, drying, stacking, and electrolyte filling.

You will run trials, document results, develop process settings and operating windows, and apply DOE, SPC, and root-cause analysis to drive defects out of the line.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering or related field.
  • 3+ years in process/manufacturing engineering or battery manufacturing.
  • Experience planning trials and analyzing data, documenting results.
  • Knowledge of root-cause analysis, DOE, SPC, or similar methods.
  • Ability to read drawings and mechanical/electrical schematics.
  • Strong communication and hands-on work in battery development.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects with autonomy.

Responsibilities

  • Lead development and troubleshooting of processes from roll press through electrolyte fill.
  • Execute trials, experiments, development builds, and document conditions, results, defects, and recommendations.
  • Develop process settings, operating windows, standard work, and inspection methods.
  • Use DOE, capability studies, and SPC to investigate defects and verify results.
  • Support PFMEA, control plans, equipment installation, and process validation.
  • Coordinate work with technicians, controls, quality, materials, and suppliers; communicate results clearly.
  • Follow GM safety and battery-handling requirements.
