Job Responsibilities:
- Develop and document extrusion and rolling schedules for lithium metal processing.
- Collaborate with cross-functional R&D, sourcing, and production teams to align development and equipment schedules with production, cell integration, and manufacturing.
- Create, plan, and execute DOE’s and experiments to understand the electrode processing space and improve the KPIs of the process, with a specific focus on lithium anode processing. Use production data to troubleshoot and resolve process issues.
- Perform advanced scientific problem-solving and effectively communicate results.
- Test and monitor equipment, conduct risk assessments, analyze process workflows, introduce process improvements, and maintain equipment, particularly for anode and lithium processing.
- Develop SOPs and specification requirements for lithium anode processing.
- Manage anode demand schedules for R&D and cell integration.
- Manage change control in assigned work areas.
- Prepare presentations for management.
- Adhere to safety regulations and internal policies.
- Assist technical leaders with developing strategies for technical work, hiring, and budgets, ensuring alignment across technical groups.
Required Qualifications:
- BS in a relevant field (e.g., chemistry, material science, mechanical engineering, chemical engineering).
- Previous experience with casting, extrusion, and rolling of metals (e.g., lithium, magnesium, aluminum).
- Minimum of 3 years of metal processing experience in a production environment.
- Knowledge of metal forming operations such as extrusion and rolling of air-sensitive metals like aluminum, magnesium, sodium, and lithium.
- Experience leading high-value projects and justifying new equipment to maintain production levels.
- Knowledge of statistical process control (SPC) and process capability (CPk).
- Ability to train operators and technicians on equipment.
- Ability to present to upper management and justify equipment needs based on experiments and process knowledge.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Minimum of 9 years of metal forming/shaping experience and familiarity with new product launches.
- Experience with lean manufacturing, Six Sigma, or similar process improvement tools.
- Knowledge of metal alloying/casting operations is a plus.
- MS or PhD in relevant fields.
- Experience working with suppliers in metal processing.
- Leadership in multidisciplinary projects requiring reliance on team expertise.
- PLC programming, robot programming, and vision systems knowledge.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to lift 50 lbs.
- Work in a lab standing up to 8 hours daily.
Compensation Range:
Expected base salary between $106,000 and $159,000, depending on experience, location, and skills.

Pay Transparency: Compensation is based on Lyten’s estimate and may be modified. Salary negotiations are generally not conducted after an offer. Pay depends on various factors including experience and education. Hires are typically paid within the range, with potential increases over time.
