Job summary

Ford is seeking a Battery Build and Test Lab Manager to lead a high-performing team responsible for rapid testing and characterization of battery components and systems. The role includes commissioning the EVDC2 lab, overseeing daily operations, and enforcing HV safety protocols to enable Ford's next-generation EV batteries.

The ideal candidate has 8+ years in battery testing and 3+ years in engineering leadership, with strong cross-functional collaboration and capital equipment experience.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or related field.
• 8+ years of battery testing, validation, or lab operations.
• 3+ years in engineering leadership or management.
• Experience commissioning/upgrading large testing facilities.
• Knowledge of battery chemistry, HV safety, and global regulations.
• Experience procuring capital equipment and managing lab budgets.
• Strong leadership and cross-functional communication.
• Experience testing structural, electrical, thermal, and mechanical systems.

Responsibilities

• Lead and mentor battery validation engineers and lab technicians.
• Oversee commissioning and ramp-up of the EVDC2 battery lab.
• Manage lab operations budget, resources, and equipment procurement.
• Design and execute comprehensive battery pack validation plans.
• Establish and enforce HV safety protocols.
• Collaborate with systems, cell engineering, manufacturing, quality, and service teams.
• Drive data storage, visualization, and automated test system architectures.
• Manage vendor relationships and external test labs.
