Job summary

UL Solutions is seeking a programming technician for on-site battery test support in Auburn Hills, MI. You will work on data sheets, test plans, and CAN-based communications with BMS and devices under test.

Responsibilities include automating test sequences, collecting data, and generating reports while integrating lab hardware and documenting procedures. The role requires a bachelor’s in engineering or related field, 2+ years’ experience, and familiarity with test automation systems.

Qualifications

• 2+ years of related experience or demonstrated competency.
• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Electronics, Mechatronics, or equivalent.
• Familiarity with test automation systems.
• Aptitude to learn programming automated laboratory test equipment for battery/energy systems.
• Exposure to CAN communication and strong problem-solving and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Read and understand data sheets and test plans.
• Support test automation programming and execution of battery test sequences.
• Support CAN-based communication between test equipment, BMS, and devices under test.
• Monitor, acquire, log, and validate electrical, thermal, and communication data during tests.
• Generate automated test reports, data summaries, and traceability records.
• Document test software, CAN configurations, test procedures, and system architectures.
• Assist commissioning, validation, and continuous improvement of lab test equipment.
• Integrate laboratory hardware including cyclers, power supplies, loads, DAQ systems, environmental chambers, and safety systems.
• Collaborate with Lab engineers and technicians to support test execution.
