Job Summary

The Batching Operator is responsible for precisely measuring, weighing, and blending ingredients in accordance with established formulas to produce high‑quality pet food batches. This role ensures the safe, efficient handling of raw materials while maintaining consistency, product integrity, and adherence to production targets. The position requires a high level of attention to detail, strict compliance with safety and quality standards, and effective collaboration with production, quality assurance, and maintenance teams to support overall operational excellence.

Responsibilities and Duties
  • Accurately measure, weigh, and prepare ingredients in accordance with batch formulas and production schedules.
  • Operate batching and mixing equipment safely, efficiently, and in compliance with standard operating procedures.
  • Verify that all raw materials are available, properly labeled, and meet quality standards prior to use.
  • Maintain accurate records of batch details, ingredient usage, and production data in line with company requirements.
  • Ensure the batching area remains clean and organized, adhering to Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs) and food safety regulations.
  • Monitor and adjust mixing parameters to maintain product consistency and meet quality specifications.
  • Communicate promptly with supervisors regarding material shortages, equipment malfunctions, or production variances.
  • Support equipment changeovers, cleaning, and basic maintenance activities as required.
  • Follow all safety protocols, including proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE) and lockout/tagout procedures.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives and participate in cross‑training to support team and operational goals.
Qualifications and Skills
  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Previous experience in food, feed, or pet food manufacturing is considered an asset.
  • Basic math and computer skills, with the ability to accurately operate scales and batching systems.
  • Working knowledge of food safety, quality control, and sanitation standards (e.g., GMP, HACCP).
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and perform work in a physically demanding environment.
  • Strong attention to detail, organizational skills, and a collaborative team‑oriented mindset.
  • Flexibility to work various shifts, including weekends and overtime, based on production needs.
Physical Requirements & Work Environment
  • Regularly required to stand and walk; use hands and arms to handle materials and equipment.
  • Occasionally required to sit, talk, or hear.
  • Ability to lift up to 25 lbs regularly and up to 50 lbs occasionally without assistance.
  • Ability to lift over 50 lbs with assistance.
  • Must have adequate peripheral vision for safe equipment operation.
  • Regular exposure to moving mechanical parts, cold environments (including freezers), wet conditions, and vibration.
  • Work environment may be loud.
Preferred
  • Bilingual in English and Spanish.
Compensation

$18 per hour

Schedule

Shift 1: Monday – Friday, 6:00 AM – 2:30 PM

Candidates must be flexible and available to work daily overtime as needed.
