Job summary

Wells Concrete in Texas is seeking a Batch Plant Supervisor to ensure accurate batching and quality control while supporting maintenance, materials management, and record keeping. You will lead safety initiatives, train employees, and drive continuous improvement for reliable daily output.

The ideal candidate has hands-on leadership experience in concrete batching, strong math skills, and a commitment to safety. This role requires teamwork across Production, QC, and Maintenance.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Strong math and ability to read a tape measure.
  • Experience leading a shift in manufacturing.
  • Valid driver's license.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure accurate batching and record keeping with Production and QC.
  • Operate forklifts, trucks, loaders, and batching equipment.
  • Coordinate with Maintenance for preventive maintenance.
  • Schedule delivery of aggregates, dyes, and admixtures with vendors.
  • Enforce safety procedures and policies; drive continuous improvement.
  • Batch concrete for various jobs.
  • Perform mix design calculations.
  • Maintain cleanliness of equipment and area.

ABOUT THE ROLE

The Batch Plant Supervisor is responsible for accurate batching, quality control, and efficient concrete production while supporting maintenance, materials management, and record keeping. This role partners with Production, Quality Control, and Maintenance teams to ensure smooth daily operations and consistent output. The supervisor also leads safety efforts, trains employees, and drives continuous improvement in plant performance.

WHAT YOU'LL DO


  • Work with Production and Quality Control departments to ensure accurate batching and record keeping.

  • Operates forklifts, trucks, front-end loader, crane-ways as well as batching equipment to mix concrete.

  • Work with the Maintenance department in doing daily, weekly, monthly and yearly preventative maintenance.

  • Work with outside vendors in scheduling delivery of aggregates, dyes, and admixtures.

  • Be accountable for recording and carrying out accurately all safety procedures and policies to help maintain a safe work environment.

  • Ability to continuously improve the batching process.

  • Be able to take the initiative to continuously push the batch plant to produce the highest level possible and troubleshoot when issues arise.

  • Batch concrete when needed for each job.

  • Ability to use math to calculate mix designs, aggregate totals, and other possible calculations needed.

  • Cleans and inspects strand vices and mixer area daily.

IDEAL CANDIDATE WILL HAVE


  • High School Diploma or GED.

  • Must have interpersonal communication skills to interact with co-workers, supervisors, and managers.

  • General math skills and ability to read a tape measure.

  • Must be able to solve problems quickly and efficiently.

  • Must have a valid driver's license.

  • Previous leadership experience

  • Must be motivated and self-driven to complete a task.

  • Knowledge of products the company uses and which products would work best.

  • Understands and accepts changes that are implemented to become best in Class.

  • Must be able to lead a team with respect and dignity.


WORKING CONDITIONS/PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS


  • Ability to perform physically demanding work, including lifting up to 75 lbs occasionally and frequent bending, climbing, kneeling, twisting, squatting, crawling, and repetitive hand/arm use

  • Capable of standing, walking, and moving throughout the facility for extended shifts of up to 12 hours

  • Comfortable working at heights using ladders, scaffolding, swing stages, and man lifts frequently

  • Ability to work safely in a production or field environment with moderate to high exposure to safety risks and hazards

  • Willingness to work in varying environmental conditions, including wet, hot, humid, and cold weather, and outdoors (Depending on location)

  • Ability to wear all required PPE, including but not limited to safety boots, safety glasses, hearing protection, high visibility vest, hard hat, and other PPE as required by the task, department, or work area.
