Job summary

Standard Materials Group, Inc. is seeking a Batch Plant Operator to produce high-quality concrete using computerized batching systems. This safety-sensitive role requires attention to quality, safety, and teamwork in a dynamic outdoor plant environment.

You will verify admixtures, adjust mix weights, and collaborate with the foreperson to meet daily production goals while upholding OSHA/MSHA standards and company policies. Overtime and weekend shifts may be required.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Prior Batch Plant Operator experience preferred.
  • Knowledge of concrete mix designs and components.
  • Proficient with computer batching systems.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure accurate batching of concrete by verifying admixtures and dosages, meeting specifications.
  • Adjust batching weights and quantities to maintain quality standards.
  • Champion a safe work environment following policies and OSHA/MSHA regulations.
  • Wear PPE in designated areas as required.
  • Collaborate with the Foreperson and team to meet project goals and daily expectations.
  • Maintain reliable, on-time attendance.

Key Responsibilities
  • Ensure accurate batching of concrete by verifying admixtures and dosages, meeting company and customer specifications every time
  • Adjust batching weights and quantities to maintain quality standards
  • Champion a safe work environment for yourself and your team, following all company policies and OSHA/MSHA regulations
  • Wear personal protective equipment (PPE) in designated areas as required
  • Collaborate with the Foreperson and team to achieve project goals and daily expectations
  • Demonstrate professionalism and courtesy in all interactions

Qualifications
  • High school diploma or GED required
  • Prior experience as a Batch Plant Operator preferred
  • Strong understanding of concrete mix designs and components
  • Verify each load for volume, mix, additives, and all relevant quality data
  • Operate batching and plant equipment safely and efficiently
  • Receive, inspect, and manage raw material inventories
  • Maintain accurate records and logs
  • Oversee cleaning and basic maintenance of the central mix plant
  • Monitor plant inventories (cement, flyash, admixtures)
  • Proficient in computer batching systems
  • Identify problems, collect data, and communicate effectively with supervisors
  • Perform preventive maintenance and report equipment issues
  • Strict adherence to safety protocols and company policies
  • Ability to work overtime, nights, weekends, and travel as needed
  • Team player willing to assist with additional duties as required
Preferred Knowledge & Skills
  • Basic operation of skid steer/BobCat equipment
  • Experience with hand tools and general equipment maintenance
Physical & Work Environment Requirements
  • Frequently required to climb, balance, and perform tasks involving physical agility.
  • Regularly sit, climb, and use hand signals or equipment; occasionally stand, walk, crawl, kneel, bend, stoop, crouch, or reach above shoulder height.
  • Lift and move objects weighing up to 25-50 lbs as needed.
  • Work primarily outdoors, often in extreme weather and environmental conditions.
  • Comfortable working in all weather conditions; exposed to jobsite hazards such as moving machinery, high places, airborne particles, and loud environments.
  • Must have specific vision abilities, including close, distance, color, peripheral, and depth perception, to operate equipment safely.
