Job summary

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED; work experience can substitute
  • One year of management and batching experience; familiarity with production, equipment, maintenance, or quality control
  • ACI Certification preferred
  • Experience with Microsoft Office; familiarity with Command Alkon, Command Batch, and Command Dispatch a plus
  • Willingness to travel and work away from home when necessary
  • Availability to work nights and weekends as needed
  • Mix of office and on-site plant work
  • Must lift up to 75 pounds occasionally

Responsibilities

  • Establish a culture that supports safety and conducts regular safety meetings. Ensure compliance with all federal, state and company regulatory policies and procedures
  • Supervise subordinates with interviewing, delegating tasks, performance evaluations, coaching and disciplinary actions
  • Exhibit leadership, organizational, interpersonal and training strengths
  • Ensure plant is open and ready for operation on time daily and capable of maximum production
  • Ensure trucks are properly maintained by drivers, including pre and post trip inspections
  • Coordinate maintenance projects and repairs to minimize downtime and keep equipment available
  • Maintain manageable material inventories and inspect for contamination/gradation issues
  • Use company processes for reporting, monitoring and tracking production and maintenance
  • Monitor batching operations for quality and efficiency
  • Other duties as assigned

Job description

We are looking for a Batch Plant Manager to join our team in Grand Junction, CO. The Batch Plant Manager with Quikrete Heavy Construction Materials will be responsible for the overall operation of the assigned batch plant with specific responsibilities relating to the plants service area while maintaining a safety-first attitude. This position requires management resources in adherence with all company standards, policies and procedures, as well as compliance with all federal and state regulations, including OSHA, MSHA, TCEQ etc. This position will need to be able to provide strong leadership, training, team building and supervision with an emphasis on employee development.

About the Role

Responsibilities:

  • Must have the ability to exercise discretion and good judgment in supervising subordinates. These tasks include but are not limited to interviewing, delegating responsibilities and tasks, performance evaluations, coaching, counseling, and disciplining
  • Excellent leadership, organizational, interpersonal, communication, customer service and training skills
  • Ensures plant is open and ready for operation on time daily and is capable of maximum production
  • Ensures trucks are properly maintained by drivers, including pre and post trip inspections, tire pressure and cleanliness
  • Coordinate maintenance projects, service work, and repairs to ensure proper utilization and maintenance of all equipment so that costs and downtime are minimized, and all equipment is available when needed
  • Ensures material inventory is at manageable levels and inspects materials for contamination and/or gradation issues
  • Ensures utilization of company processes for reporting, monitoring and tracking of production and maintenance activities
  • Monitors batching operations for quality and efficiency
  • Other duties as assigned
About You

We Require:

  • High School Diploma or GED (work experience can substitute for education)
  • One year of management and batching experience; familiarity with production, equipment, maintenance, or quality control
  • A.C.I. Certification preferred
  • Experience with Microsoft Office; familiarity with software like Command Alkon, Command Batch, and Command Dispatch a plus
  • Willingness to travel and work away from home when necessary
  • Availability to work nights and weekends as needed
  • Mix of office and on-site plant work
  • Office: Standard work areas and equipment
  • On-site: Exposure to heights, machinery, dust, temperature/weather changes
  • Required to follow safety procedures and utilize the appropriate safety gear
  • Physical activities: standing, walking, bending, kneeling, stooping, crawling, climbing
  • Must lift up to 10 pounds frequently and up to 75 pounds occasionally
  • Strong interpersonal and conflict-resolution skills
  • Ability to present facts and recommendations effectively (oral and written)
  • Proficient in reading, writing, and basic mathematics
