Job summary

O-I in Toano, VA is seeking a Glass Manufacturing Batch & Furnace Manager to lead furnace and batch house operations, uphold safety, quality and efficiency, and manage budgets.

You will supervise salary and hourly personnel, coordinate materials and glass formulas, and partner with Production and Quality Managers to improve performance across the plant. A HS Diploma or GED is required; a Bachelor's in Ceramic/Chemical/Materials Science or related Engineering is preferred.

Qualifications

• Glass furnace operations and large-scale glass melting experience.
• Experience supervising employees and planning schedules.
• Ability to plan and coordinate all preventive maintenance activities.
• Lean manufacturing and continuous improvement experience.

Responsibilities

• Work in partnership with the Production and Quality Managers to produce glass containers while continuously improving levels of quality and efficiency.
• Be accountable for supervising salary and hourly personnel engaged in all phases of plant's batch and furnace operation.
• Manage incoming raw materials and glass formulas.

Job Description

The Glass Manufacturing Batch & Furnace Manager is responsible for furnace and batch house operations, including environmental controls and maintenance. Ensuring effective management of the departments labor, equipment, maintenance, and expense budgets.

The Glass Manufacturing Batch & Furnace Manager Will

• Work in partnership with the Production and Quality Managers to produce glass containers while continuously improving levels of quality and efficiency.
• Be accountable for supervising salary and hourly personnel engaged in all phases of plant's batch and furnace operation.
• Manage incoming raw materials and glass formulas.

The Glass Manufacturing Batch & Furnace Manager Should Have

• Glass furnace operation and large scale glass melting operations experience
• Experience supervising employees, planning work schedules and directing assignments.
• The ability to plan and coordinate all preventive maintenance activities.
• Lean manufacturing and continuous improvement experience.

Qualifications

• Glass Furnace Operations and large-scale glass melting operations experience is REQUIRED
• HS Diploma or GED is required
• Bachelor’s Degree in Ceramic, Chemical, Materials Science or related Engineering field preferred
• Demonstrated leadership abilities and strong interpersonal skills at all levels of the organization.

Additional Information

What we offer at O-I:

Salary Range: The expected salary range for this position is between $95,000 - $120,000 and includes a possible 12% quarterly incentive bonus. Actual pay will be adjusted based upon candidate experience and other job-related factors permitted by law.
