Job summary

YMCA of Coastal Georgia, Inc. is seeking a Sports Assistant to prep fields and gyms used for youth/adult sports and to support program delivery. This role supports the Sports Director and ensures a positive experience for participants and staff.

The position emphasizes safety, clear information sharing, and active involvement in member retention and community programs, with opportunities to officiate as needed.

Qualifications

• Sound working knowledge of sports as determined by season and league rules.
• Ability to communicate clearly with parents and participants about program information and policies.
• Ability to foster positive interactions among staff, peers, and program participants.
• Ability to supervise large groups of participants.
• CPR and First Aid are required within 30 days of employment.
• Must pass a background check and be cleared to work with children per Georgia requirements.

Responsibilities

• Set up and take down department equipment and facilities as required.
• Assist the Sports Director in managing leagues and programs.
• Promote and lead in development and implementation of youth/adult sports programs.
• May serve as an official, referee, or timekeeper as needed.
• Inspect and report facility or equipment safety issues to the Sports Director.
• Provide participants with accurate league information as required.
• Maintain a positive and cheerful attitude with staff, peers, and program participants.
• Assist in YMCA member retention and Annual Campaign fundraising efforts.
• Willingly perform other duties as assigned.
