Job summary

The Truckee Donner Recreation & Park District is seeking a Men's Basketball Official to supervise adult recreational games at the Community Recreation Center, ensuring a safe, fair, and enjoyable experience for all participants.

Officials enforce league rules, maintain game flow, and promote sportsmanship among players, coaches, and spectators. Fingerprinting via DOJ is required before starting. Evening shifts with competitive hourly pay and district perks are offered.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of basketball rules and game procedures.
• Previous officiating or playing experience preferred.
• Strong communication, conflict-resolution, and decision-making skills.
• Ability to remain calm, objective, and professional in a competitive environment.
• Ability to stand, move, and run for the duration of assigned games.

Responsibilities

• Officiate men's recreational basketball games in accordance with established league rules and regulations.
• Make consistent, impartial decisions regarding fouls, violations, scoring, and game situations.
• Maintain control of games by addressing unsportsmanlike conduct and resolving conflicts professionally.
• Communicate clearly and respectfully with players, coaches, and fellow officials.
• Monitor player safety and report injuries, incidents, or disciplinary concerns to Recreation District staff.
• Arrive on time, prepared, and appropriately dressed for assigned games.
• Complete game reports and communicate scores or other required information to staff.
• Support a positive, inclusive, and respectful recreational sports environment.

Hours Available:

Evening shifts, Wednesday night league games from 6-10pm, hours varying by season and program needs.

Pay:

$26.51 - $33.54 per hour, depending on experience, plus District perks valued at $500 per month for a family of 4 (they include membership passes to the fitness center, pool, and beach for employees and their entire family).

Applicants are required to be fingerprinted through the DOJ and once cleared, they may start work.
