Job summary

Crossroads YMCA in Crown Point, IN is seeking a part-time sports official to officiate programs such as basketball, soccer, volleyball, T-ball, dodgeball, football, and softball. You will ensure fair play and uphold YMCA values.

Responsibilities include signaling violations, reporting injuries, attending trainings, and working evenings, weekends, and at multiple branches within the Crossroads YMCA network. CPR/AED and First Aid certifications are required within 30 days of hire.

Qualifications

POSITION SUMMARY:

Under the supervision of the Sports Director/Sports Coordinator, the sports staff will be responsible for officiating adult/youth sports programs. Including but not limited to; Basketball, Soccer, Volleyball, T-ball, Dodgeball, Football, and Softball.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

• Stop play when necessary and explain violations consistently and fairly.
• Know, demonstrate, and interpret the YMCA philosophy to players and spectators.
• Report injuries to Program Director, following safety procedures and guidelines.
• Must demonstrate the ability to work with varying ages and to manage large groups.
• Must demonstrate the ability to control all aspects of the game that you are officiating.
• Attends and participates in other YMCA program activities, staff meetings, and staff trainings required.
• Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends.
• Ability to work at various branches, within the Crossroads YMCA organization.
• Work closely with the Sports Director/Sports Coordinator to address any concerns.
• Assist the Sports Director/Sports Coordinator when needed.
• Assist in YMCA fundraising activities and special events as designated by the Branch Executive Director.

QUALIFICATIONS:

• Certifications required within 30 days of hire: CPR/AED & First Aid
• New Employee Orientation and online trainings required prior to the start of employment.

• Minimum age 18 preferred.
• Six months or more of related experience preferred.
