Bank Street School for Children - Children's Programs

Role:

Basketball Clinic Coach (Part-time role)

Schedule:

Weekly on Mondays from 7:15 am - 8:15 am (October 1, 2024 - October 31, 2024; with opportunities for occasional substitute work). This position follows the SFC school calendar for October.

Job Summary:

Bank Street School for Children's (BSC) seeks a coach for our Upper School morning basketball clinic. We desire a dynamic individual embodying our values of sportsmanship, integrity, and youth development. The coach will conduct practice sessions under the supervision of the after-school director and auxiliary programs team. Experience coaching 5th-8th grade students and understanding social and emotional learning are preferred.

Responsibilities:
  1. Conduct 1 to 2 weekly clinics; willing to coach as early as 7:15 am.
  2. Build relationships with students, faculty, and families.
  3. Enforce BSC principles of equity, diversity, and inclusion.
  4. Model and encourage positive youth behaviors.
  5. Supervise students and staff during games and practices.
  6. Communicate effectively and mentor students.
  7. Adhere to BSC rules and regulations, demonstrating professional leadership.
  8. Ensure safety measures are followed to protect students' well-being.
  9. Oversee safe transfer of children to daytime classes.
  10. Candidates must possess or obtain First Aid and CPR certification.
Qualifications:
  1. High School diploma required; Bachelor's degree preferred.
  2. Experience in basketball playing or coaching with youth athletes.
  3. Experience working with school-age children.
  4. Experience with youth sports and family engagement activities is preferred.
  5. Willingness to collaborate and develop skills in working with children individually, in small groups, and as a class.
