Overview
A faculty member with the rank of instructor in Basic Sciences is responsible for teaching in lecture and/or laboratory settings. They are assigned to provide instruction in a portion of the curriculum for which they have suitable training and experience, including:
- Microbiology or Immunology
- Biochemistry
- Molecular biology, Genetics
- Physiology
Responsibilities
The basic responsibilities of this position include:
- Prepare and deliver lectures or laboratory lessons on assigned topics
- Participate in assessment of student performance through appropriate examination methods
- Promote an appropriate atmosphere for student education and be responsive to students' needs
- Serve on TOUROCOM committees as assigned
- Provide reports, budgetary information, and other documents as requested by Department Chairs, Directors, and Deans
- Advise and mentor students
- Participate in medical student admission interviews
Qualifications
Education, Preparation, and Training
- Graduate level degree (Master’s or Doctoral) in any of the topics mentioned in the job responsibilities section
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Proficient in relevant content expertise, research techniques, instructional design, delivery and assessment, course management, psychometrics/statistics, learning theory, public speaking, effective communication, conflict management
- Basic computer skills supporting the Microsoft Office Suite, including PowerPoint, Word, Outlook, Excel, and software used to prepare and administer written exams electronically
Physical Demands
Salary Range
- Maximum: USD $150.00/hr
- Minimum: USD $120.00/hr
