Job summary

Newport Independent Schools in Kentucky is seeking a seasonal baseball coach for a secondary school athletic program. The position focuses on developing fundamentals, teamwork, and sportsmanship within the school's athletics program.

Responsibilities include planning practices, promoting the sport in the school and community, ensuring safety, checking participant eligibility, and aligning with district policies. Must meet state background checks and complete required KHSAA trainings.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED certification, preferred;
  • 21 years of age;
  • Has met requirements of a criminal records check and child abuse background check as specified by KY State Law;
  • Successful completion of all trainings courses as specified by KHSAA;
  • Demonstrates knowledge of sporting rules, regulations, and guidelines.

Responsibilities

  • Promote sport in the schools and community
  • Plan the wrestling program.
  • Organize and supervise practices
  • Teach individual fundamental skills, team play, team strategy and rules and regulations of the game
  • Teach good sportsmanship and self-control
  • Check eligibility of participants, including insurance coverage and parent consent
  • Provide students a proper role model, emotional support, patience, a friendly attitude and general guidance
  • Determine appropriate action within clearly defined guidelines
  • Present a positive image of the district to parents and community
  • Demonstrate concern with the education, growth and development of each student
  • Seek to develop a positive relationship between home and school
  • Recommend the purchase of equipment, supplies and uniforms as appropriate for the health, safety and welfare of student athletes
  • Adhere to the Newport Board of Education Policies and Procedures
  • Perform related duties as assigned.
