Qualifications

• Valid New Jersey Instructional Certificate or eligibility or County Substitute Certificate.
• Minimum experience as determined by the board.
• Knowledge of sport, training and conditioning, injury prevention and management, and human growth and development.
• Ability to maintain a positive learning environment and high conduct standards for athletes.
• Read and write proficiently.
• Good physical health to perform duties.
• Excellent integrity and character.
• Strong interpersonal skills to relate with students, staff, administration, parents, and community.
• Ability to maintain discipline for safety and well-being of students.
• Residency in New Jersey; ability to obtain within one year of employment.
• Clear communication in English, both oral and written.
• Provide proof of U.S. citizenship or legal resident status (I-9).
• Evidence of criminal record check clearance.
• Health adequate to fulfill job functions; reasonable accommodations per law.
• Pass Mantoux test as required by regulations.

Responsibilities

• Coach individuals in the skills needed for success in the sport.
• Oversee team members; promote sportsmanship and enforce rules.
• Follow board-approved emergency medical procedures during practice and games.
• Select team members and verify eligibility.
• Plan and schedule regular practice programs and attend contests.
• Ensure safety conditions of facilities at all times when students are present.
• Manage team equipment; assist in distribution and collection of gear.
• Coordinate with athletic director for athletic competitions and transportation.
• Recommend equipment, supplies, and uniforms purchases.
• Obtain parent permission in writing and file records with the athletic director.
• Assist in preparation and administration of the athletic program budget; uphold board policies and rules.
