Qualifications

• CHSAA certification required for high school coaches.

Responsibilities

• Plan and recruit to maximize student involvement.
• Attend Athletic Director meetings.
• Conduct parent meetings with clear, documented expectations for players and parents.
• Increase participation through recruiting.
• Develop life skills in student athletes.
• Create practice plans for incremental skill development.
• Monitor academic progress and student eligibility.
• Teach sportsmanship and integrity.
• Submit rosters in a timely manner.
• Maintain professional behavior during practices and games.
• Head coaches establish roles of assistants.
• Conduct practices to develop strength, endurance, and athletic skills.
• Build team cohesion with peer coaches and teachers.
• Cultivate relationships with other school teams.
• Pursue ongoing professional development.
• Oversee equipment, uniforms, and repairs.
• Raise funds for program needs.
• Motivate assistants and utilize their talents.
• Demonstrate concern for visiting teams and officials.
• Apply first aid/CPR as needed.
• Submit required reports and requisitions.
• Ensure student fees are collected prior to first competition.
• Organize team pictures taken.
