Job summary

Texas AirSystems, LLC. seeks a Controls Specialist to lead startup, commissioning, and configuration of Building Automation Systems for commercial HVAC projects.

You will work independently on standard systems, ensuring installation, programming, and operation meet design specs while supporting project quality and customer satisfaction. Applicants should have 1–4 years of BAS or related controls experience, strong electrical troubleshooting, and knowledge of DDC/BAS platforms.

Qualifications

• Working knowledge of DDC controls and BAS platforms.
• Basic to intermediate electrical troubleshooting skills.
• Ability to read engineered documents, including wiring diagrams and sequences.
• Understanding of HVAC systems and control applications.
• Knowledge of IP networking and communication protocols preferred.
• Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
• Ability to work independently and manage tasks and projects.
• 1-4 years of BAS or related controls experience.
• High School Diploma required.
• Technical degree, certification, or relevant trade experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• System Startup & Commissioning: Perform end-to-end I/O verification and system startup activities; complete calibrations and commissioning documentation; support third-party commissioning and validation efforts.
• Programming & Configuration: Configure and program DDC controllers and BAS interfaces; implement and troubleshoot GUI; modify sequences of operation; support integration of HVAC systems.
• Troubleshooting & Technical Execution: Diagnose and resolve hardware, software, and network issues; troubleshoot IP/RS-485 networks; interpret control drawings and sequences.
• Documentation & Quality: Maintain accurate job documentation; ensure work aligns with standards and project specs; identify and communicate issues; interface with project managers, engineers, and customers; guide junior team members; support continuous improvement.
