Job summary

Sonesta International Hotels is seeking a customer-focused bartender or barback to join our team in New York. You will greet guests, take orders, prepare cocktails and other beverages, ensure bar cleanliness, and maintain inventory. You will operate the POS, handle payments, and uphold liquor laws and safety standards.

The role requires 21+ years old, 2+ years’ experience, and relevant certifications. Flexibility for weekend/holiday shifts is essential, with duties including event support as

Qualifications

• Must be 21 years or older.
• 2+ years of bartender or barback experience.
• Food Handling Certificate.
• TIPS certification.
• Proficient in English (spoken and written).
• Strong math, organization, and multitasking skills.
• Lift up to 25 lbs. and stand 8–10 hours.
• Experience with POS and basic computer systems.

Responsibilities

• Greet guests, take orders, and serve drinks and food using upselling techniques.
• Prepare beverages per recipe, including cocktails, coffee drinks, and wine service.
• Manage bar setup, cleanliness, restocking, and closing duties.
• Maintain inventory levels, track usage, place orders, and monitor waste.
