Job summary

The Oasis at Death Valley, operated by Xanterra Travel Collection, seeks a Bartender to serve across outlets like The Inn Bar and Last Kind Words Saloon, delivering guest-focused service.

You will mix cocktails, pour drafts and wine to showcase the menu while ensuring accurate POS entries and guest satisfaction. Prior bartending in fast-paced settings is preferred; pay is $17.20/hr with benefits.

Qualifications

• 1–2 years of bartending experience in a hotel, restaurant, or bar setting.
• Familiarity with mixing cocktails, pouring wine and beer, and using bar equipment.
• Experience in high-volume environments is preferred.
• Ability to organize and prioritize under pressure while maintaining a calm and pleasant demeanor.
• Certification in the TIPS alcohol awareness program is required.

Responsibilities

• Provide excellent guest service in an efficient manner.
• Follow policies, procedures and service standards.
• Enter all food and beverage items in the POS system accurately and serve promptly.
• Maximize sales with menu knowledge and suggestive selling; assist wine sales.
• Adhere to Xanterra alcohol policies and keep lounge/service areas clean.

The Oasis at Death Valley is situated in a lush, spring-fed desert oasis, surrounded by the vast and arid desert of Death Valley National Park. The Oasis operates the historic AAA Four Diamond Inn and Ranch, restaurants, gift shops, and the world's lowest elevation golf course. Both hotels are open year-round and feature swimming pools fed by naturally warm local springs.

Job Summary

The Bartender position is responsible for providing great guest service by mixing quality cocktails, pouring a proper draft, and decanting wine to achieve the best taste.Join our team as a Bartender at The Oasis at Death Valley, where you'll have the opportunity to work in any number of our vibrant bar outlets, including The Inn Bar, The Inn Pool Bar, Last Kind Words Saloon, Wild Rose Tavern, and the Employee Pub.

The Details

Position Type: Full-time Year-round
Start Dates: On next available start date (approximately three weeks)
Pay: $17.20/hr.
Schedule: Typical schedule is 40 hours, 5 days/per week (may include weekends, evenings, and holidays)

Responsibilities

• Perform all duties toward the goal of providing excellent guest service in an efficient manner.
• Follow all policies, procedures and service standards.
• Accurately record and enter all food (where applicable) and beverage items in to the POS system; produce, pick up, garnish and serve food and beverages promptly to guests; collect and process forms of payment; ensuring guest satisfaction throughout.
• Maximize sale by using menu knowledge and suggestive selling techniques. Motivate and educate staff in up-selling and wine salesmanship. Ensure established standards of beverage service are met.
• Offer and serve alcoholic beverages while adhering to established Xanterra alcohol policies.
• Maintain cleanliness of lounge and service areas. Ensure work area is orderly and properly stocked.
• Responsible for collecting accurate payment from the guest and depositing the exact amount of sales.

Qualifications

• 1–2 years of bartending experience in a hotel, restaurant, or bar setting.
• Familiarity with mixing cocktails, pouring wine and beer, and using bar equipment.
• Experience in high-volume environments is preferred.
• Ability to organize and prioritize under pressure while maintaining a calm and pleasant demeanor.
• Ability to communicate effectively with guests, co-workers, and supervisors.
• Ability to absorb large amounts of information quickly: Service procedures, beverage and food menus as appropriate, Aloha point of sales.
• Knowledge of brands, selections and recipes helpful.
• Computer experience and knowledge of ordering procedures.
• Knowledge of basic sanitation.
• Certification in the TIPS alcohol awareness program is required. Workshops will be provided if not currently certified.

Physical Requirements

• Must be able to stand for long periods of time, approximately 8 hours.
• Must be able to walk for long periods of time.
• Must be able to lift and carry a minimum of 50 pounds.
• Must be able to bend, stretch, and reach for extended periods of time.
